Raised in Galivants Ferry, South Carolina, Henry Luther began performing solo in the Columbia area in 2018. His solo act began attracting attention through a combination of witty stage banter, clever but poignant songs, harmonica flourishes, and tours of the Southeast. After the release of two solo live albums, he began performing with the Blackouts, a rotating cast of friends and multi-instrumentalists who help to reinvent the songs with every live performance. After a brief hiatus while Henry finished his master’s degree in history, the Blackouts hit the ground running in 2023, releasing a live album called “Live at Fresh Brewed” in February and dropping their “From a Tiny Desk” EP in March, featuring songs from a live session that produced their 2023 NPR Tiny Desk Contest submission. They are currently working on a follow-up to their last studio album, tentatively titled Highway 321 in Mono, to be released in 2024.
